Carica papaya (தான்றி) – Papaya – Plant 16 x 30 inch
Commonly known as Papaya, Carica papaya is a fast-growing, tropical fruit tree that reaches up to 10 meters. It produces large, sweet, orange-fleshed fruits that are rich in vitamins A and C. Papayas are widely cultivated in tropical and subtropical regions for their edible fruits and medicinal properties, as well as their usefulness in culinary applications.
Papaya trees need full sun and well-drained, fertile soil. Water regularly, but avoid waterlogging, as papayas are prone to root rot. Fertilize every two months with compost or a balanced fertilizer to support fruiting. Prune to remove any dead or damaged leaves and to allow for better air circulation around the trunk. Protect from strong winds, as the papaya tree has a shallow root system.
